Evergreen

Every time it's time to stock up on Packer's Pine Tar Soap, the Vermont Country Store reliably has some if others don't, but every time it's owned by a new outfit. This time is no exception, but this time it appears that Packer's may be the sole brand. There are other pine-tar soaps out there, but not one is like Packer's. Packer's is good soap to take camping, because it truly does appear to have an insect-repellent effect. It also rinses very well and cleanly and doesn't scum up hair for those traveling light and without shampoo and using little water for purposes other than drinking. Packer's is good in the summer heat and humidity because it soothes the skin suffering from those conditions. Packer's is good in a high-altitude dry climate or in a dry Austin winter like this one. Packer's leaves no greasy residue. There's nothing like it and that must be why people still ask for it, even after 135 years.

ok - i know this post is old - but i was wondering if you prefer packer's over grandpa's pine tar soap and was wondering why? packer's seems much more harsh to me and they won't disclose their ingredients (their soap base) and they have PEG 75 or something like that in it. grandpas has palm oil, coconut oil and pine tar oil.
also packers is now made be a chemical company that doesn't bother to answer emails.

Yes; I do still prefer Packer's. It still keeps me from itching and breaking out in the summer and keeps me from drying out and itching in the winter. I know that the brand has changed ownership more than once over the years; nevertheless, it still works best for me. Htsnfps'd id plrsdsny rnouhh snf I've used it when unable to find Packer's, but it's not the same. Every skin is different. Packer's is available at vermontcountrystore.com, My skin is very, very sensitive to contact dermatitis and there are many, many products that bother me a lot. That's all I know!

funny, i recently received packer's as a gift and it made me itch and grandpa's does not! it also seemed to dry out my hair more.
are you in austin, tx by any chance? i would be willing to give my 2 packer's bars to you... i hate to waste them... i am allergic to many things and i think i must be allergic to the fragrance in packers or something.
also, grandpa's was the first tar soap i tried and i probably just got used to it. isn't it weird that works for some does not work for others???
thanks for answering
also have you ever tried j. r. liggetts or chandrika?
